Everyone who gets in a boat signs a waiver — it's quick and required. Signing online before you arrive saves time at the dock and gets you on the water faster.

Why waivers?

Paddling on Barton Creek and Lady Bird Lake is safe and fun, but it involves real water and real risk. Our waiver is straightforward — it acknowledges you understand the activity and are responsible for following our safety guidelines.

ID required

A valid, government-issued photo ID is required for all adult rentals. No exceptions. Bring your driver's license, passport, or state ID to the dock. No ID means no boat — we keep this simple for everyone's safety.

Booking a group? Have each adult in your party sign their own waiver before arriving. Children under 18 need a parent or guardian to complete the child waiver. Group reservations welcome.

Waiver Agreement

I, the undersigned adult, voluntarily participate in water recreation activities provided by Zilker Park Boat Rentals. I understand that paddling on Barton Creek and Lady Bird Lake involves inherent risks including, but not limited to, capsizing, collision, and unpredictable water conditions. I agree to follow all staff instructions and safe-boating guidelines. I release Zilker Park Boat Rentals, its owners, employees, and the City of Austin from liability for any injury, loss, or damage arising from my participation. I confirm that I am physically capable of participating and can enter/exit the watercraft independently or with assistance. I have read this waiver, understand it, and sign it freely.
